Thank You NHS

THANK YOU NHS

Brief: ‘this project is a practice in gratitude for someone you love, please take this time to sincerely thank someone for all that you have in your life!’

Initial Moodboard. Key features are the NHS logo and the Pandemic slogan

“The rainbow is a sign of hope”

For this assignment, I thought a lot about who I am most thankful for and why. There are more people than I can count who I am grateful for and it felt wrong to pick just one, so instead of creating a piece for one person, I had a fab idea…. Given the current situation, I felt it rather fitting to create something which gives thanks to the National Health Service (NHS) for all they are doing at this time of crisis

In Britain, the big slogan/repeated message which is being broadcast across the nation is ‘Stay Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives’. It is repeated on the radio, TV, freeway signs, social media, and other big platforms.

During the coronavirus pandemic, the rainbow has become a symbol of support for people wanting to show solidarity with NHS workers on the front line.

The trend was started by a nurse who wanted to create “a sign of hope” for patients and staff in hospitals across the country.

Concept sketches

Across the country, rainbows have been popping up in windows, gates, postboxes, almost everywhere! Children have been responsible for drawing most of the rainbows, which symbolizes the sun emerging amid a rainy backdrop, a reminder to stay positive.

Pattern Design

I wanted to create a pattern that was fun and colorful and engages the viewer. something which is bubbly and uplifting and is inspired by the spirit of the NHS and the energy of the country coming together to support each other in times of crisis.
