Explanation / Reflections
My three obsessions for this assignment are B- body, E-environment, and I-illustration. I am passionate about illustration, often gaining inspiration from my surrounding environment and presenting them through human figures. For the first five prototypes, I focused on demonstrating the theme of growth, which is present in humans as aging but seems vibrant with plants. As a result, I used wires and strings to present several relationships between plants and the human body. For instance, the three sketches above emerge body parts into plates, the chemist between them was very whimsical and interesting. I made the majority of my prototypes in 3D, with wires, textured papers, wooden sticks, and a hot glue gun. However, when I did my 10th prototype, I wanted to transform some of my earlier paper drawings into 3D form. This thought inspired me for my final prototype as well. At this point, my plan for the final bridge will be a sculpture that demonstrates how the surrounding environment affects individuals and give endless inspiration to illustrators.
