Part1-Mind Map/Brainstorming
Origin from my brother who contacted me frequently at that time, I started my brainstorming by considering his personality and characteristics.
Part 2
the definitions of the words metaphor and symbol
Ten metaphors and symbols
What I evolved later were ten concepts: Bees, Stick, Chameleon, Robot, Scale, Clock, Wild cat, Lighter, and Weed.
- Bees- social animal(insect), cooperation
- Stick- stubborn
- Chameleon- adaptable
- Robot- rational
- Scale- “fair”
- Clock- precise
- Wild cat- nimble
- Lighter- inflammable
- Weed- indomitable
Part3
Further research
I chose Bees, Lighter, and Scale to investigate deeper.
Book1-Sequence and Narrative
For my book1, I used the concept of lighter, which involved fire.
I was actually trying to show the history of lighter. Born with the discovery of fire, people created matches later. Then, the first lighter was invented as a weapon used for wars. It gradually evolves into the lighter people commonly use today.
*1+1=3: Image Sequence
This work shows the life of worker bees. Born(by the queen bee), grew in the honeycombs, grew up, work(gather nectar).
Book2-Collage+Drawing
The concept I chose for my book2 is Scale. Starting with Lady Justice, I showed different scales for various usages. I also tried to make each of them connected.
Book3-Meander
Since the requirement was to let us use text, I used the concept–Robot for my book3. It’s more like artificial intelligence actually, and I included some coding in the picture.
Final Book
Proposal
Final work
-Preface- The first part shows what a worker bee is born to do.
-The Honeycomb- The worker bees are gestated by the honeycomb.
-Union- I want to show the process of how the worker bees work--find a flower, call their mates, gather the nectar, and find another flower. My focus point is the word "cooperation".
