This was the first project in studio class, taking inspiration from Joan Didion’s essay ‘Goodbye to all that’ everyone had to create a collage that summarizes their impression on New York, as most of us were international students.
I thought my collage was quite striking and unique, which is why I really like it. With that said, during critique my professor told me that there might be some good in simply drawing everything instead of putting on the pictures like I did on the face. While I don’t know if I agree completely, I do think that it’s still something to consider. As before this, a collage is simply a collection of photographs, never have I thought it could have something more than that.
