This was something that was done in order to help us with our final project. We were basically asked to take an already existing pattern from somewhere and manipulate it. This top was actually a dress initially but then I started rolling things up and adding sleeves and this was what happened. It was a very impulsive kind of work, I didn’t really think too much about it as I was just curious as to how far I could change it. I think that only thing that really was in my head when I made this was how could I make it interesting based on my research focus. Which I did through creating the juxtaposition between the soft sleeves and hard geometrical hem. The reason for that was because, at the time, I thought one of the reason why gold really is an interesting subject of matter is because how even though it’s a piece of metal its also so soft (in the sense that it was the most malleable metal that existed).
