Iterative Jacket: Part 2

In the end I was pretty satisfied with what I came up with. With that said I do think that my closures were more successful in capturing my idea of interaction and interchangeability between the user and the garment. As with my pockets I do realize that the concept has to be explored beyond just creating new shapes. As for materials, I ended up using all wool felt of different weights because i’ve never actually work with them before, despite always being interested in the material. What I love personally about the wool was that the ends could be left raw without it looking half done. With that said the biggest challenge was in getting the perfect cut, as while they were easy to cut cutting perfect circles don’t come naturally with me. With that said, I do think that in the future if I were to recreate any of the shapes I would probably do it with the laser cutter as I think that would help me achieve the most precise cuts.

With the jacket, I definitely learned a lot despite not making any changes to the pattern. As by doing it exactly as the booklet instructed I’ve sort of learned to understand how the jacket is able to achieve the shape it has. And while it isn’t necessarily perfect, I do think that I’ve understood the order of operation enough to do a better job the next time I do make a jacket.
