Integrative Studio: Choreographing an Encounter_Icy Couture

First, it was a struggle for me to pick a concept for this project because I didn’t understand the goal of the project. So I asked a couple of friends, had many researches online and finally landed on a concept: Ice Skating. Still I has no idea how to project this idea to an art piece. My initial idea was to have my pictures or my video taken while I was ice skating and edit it with a voice over, but this idea seemed dull and simple.

Images like this were always seen and unoriginal.

So I sat down and thought of ways in which I can  project the elegancy and the structure of figure skating. Finally I came with another idea. I was going to combine my dancing background with ice skating by editing photos of abstract dance moves in such a way that would make the image look like it is moving.

This is an example of how I wanted to edit and image, but still there was something missing. This didn’t feel complete and it wasn’t a goo representation of my self.

So I started thinking again and after hours of discussions with people forcing me to change my original concept, I came with a risky but very ‘out there’ idea:

By tracing the movement that I make on I’ve I was to create various clothing items.

This idea excited me and gave me a whole new look on ice skating. When I cam to think of it fashion is a huge part of figure skating but the skates are very neglected  in this sense. So I decided to create a line of shoes that are inspired from the movement that are made on ice, which can be seen below.
