Integrative Seminar: Blindfold Activity

Imagine loosing something that is very important to you… Now imagine that having the thing you lost but not being able to reach it or utilize it. That is how I felt during this activity.

We were supposed to cover our eyes to the point that we are not able to see anything but a black void. We were guided by the voice of our partner, which is scary because you have to trust your partner to move. Some might struggle with that but for me trusting wasn’t the issue. The main issue was that I felt so limited and imprisoned. I wasn’t in control of my own body and at that moment my whole physical existence was in the hands of another.

After, we switched positions and the sudden difference between not being in control of myself, being in control of someone else was so empowering. Switching from such a vulnerable state to one that made me feel stronger showed me that there is two sides to everything: One that we experience and one that others experience of us.
