Integrative Seminar: Multiple Perspectives Final Post

Writing a magazine style article about a foreign subject… Basically acting, as we were editors of a magazine. Trying to decide on a foreign concept was the actual challenge in this assignment because there are so many thing that we don’t know and yet to learn. Writing and experiencing the unknown was such a broad thing so I alienated a familiar concept.

I picked ice-skating as a topic due to my hockey and figure skating background. I started to skate around the age of 5 and ever since then it has been a hobby of mine until the day I was forced to step away from it. People always told me that I had a really strong balance; this led me to pursue ice-skating in a professional level. First I started as a hockey player and then I glided my way into figure skating. Having a background in dancing helped me a lot with the movements that I was supposed to do.

Alienating such a familiar concept and trying see it from another perspective showed me something about myself. It made me realize that fear is such an irrelevant feeling and is a waste of time so I shouldn’t be afraid to try new things and relive past mistakes.
