Writing a research paper without actually writing the paper was the goal of this assignment. By just creating an outline of a paper we were supposed to question of the relationship between identity and society. I picked the identity of a fan. By looking into a fans psychology I discussed how people are willing to do anything for the one they admire.
By focusing on fandom I researched the newly created industries and the effects of fans to the society. I used to be, as some people might say, a die-hard fan, therefore I can relate to fans. I used to buy every item of merchandise that the band had. I, as my friends called me, was crazy. I wasn’t thinking rationally because at that moment when I was in the presence of the band, I stopped thinking. The only thing that I could focus on was the music and the band.
In this assignment we were supposed to present our outlines and discuss our main arguments. Honestly, I was very embarrassed to tell that I was one those die-hard fans, because I feel that if someone can be under the impression of anything that strongly it can cause some risks. Such risks that are reckless.
