About

Growing up, I’ve always been curious about where I fit into the greater social fabric. Investigating the complexities that inform how I am perceived, how I see myself, and how I move about the world. A lack of representation caused me to create my own personal mythologies. I began drawing parallels between natural processes, ecosystems, and my human experience as a femme POC. Just as the pearl turns and irritant into a gem, I felt I took in my surrounding (be it bad or good) and covered it in a lustrous lacquer of my own. I found beauty in how a process rooted in survival could produce something so precious, much like the way an individual can transmute their trauma into something greater. In this way, studying adaptations, evolutions, relationships, and phenomenon seen in the nature helped me to examine a layered identity.

I am interested in making objects and installations (perhaps manifested as an interactive furniture or simulated environments, spaces, + new media works) that will merge scientifically informed design with a sort of mysticism or personal mythology that has helps me navigate my multifaceted experience. It observes the micro and macro, as well as the sublime human capacity to explore our own existence on a multitude of scales.
