Final Project

An archive of the Lebanese Civil War

A story of love, fear, luck, history and memory, Beirut 1975

The final presentation in class:

By narrating a personal story through these photographs of unperfect lemons, I express myself in response to the war.

Feedbacks of the class:

  • Why a grid? Since I am representing chaos, maybe the pictures should be in chaos too rather than in a grid…
  • The photographs’ color and filters are quite odd. Maybe it would have been stronger to show the yellow of the lemon more…
  • If I would like to take this artwork further, I should improve the filters of my pictures and the way they are presented.

I personally decided to present them in a form of a grid because the photographs already by themselves represent chaos and therefore by trying to put them in order, I express my personal approach in trying to make this story clear and that has a concrete organized history…

I personally believe that the honesty but also conceptual approach of this project really permitted me to express all of my feelings towards this war. I really loved my final presentation but if I had unlimited time, space and resources, or even if I would want to progress it (which I will), I would definitely make it even bigger and more overwhelming for my viewers. I would ideally love to make a whole wall full of these chaotic photographs presented in a form of a grid.
