Up and Above

I am comfortable and accustomed to the fact that everyone here is bound for the same goal yet different destinations, yet we all eventually seem to meet back in the same spot. I chose to recreate the staircase of Parsons Paris because it is beautiful when you held your head up, although, most people failed to see that, it is a pathway that leads to one’s dreams. I’ve spent a lot of time here working on my future self, pursuing my dreams. So, I wanted to present this idea of progression.

Firstly, I started working with Adobe Photoshop. I chose to extract one image from a couple I took of the staircase and trace its path bit by bit, to create an animation, that, I used to produce a video. The animation consists of 32 pieces of illustrations of different parts of the staircase. In relation to the color scheme, I focused on presenting my platform for achieving my dreams through using its dominant colors, which are red and white. I used white for the background and red for the staircase. Last but not the least, I inserted two audios and overlapped them; one was recorded when, I was walking down the stairs, and the other was of me walking up the stairs. The purpose of the collaboration of these two sounds was mainly to present the ups and downs in one’s life.
