Since there is a lot of symbolism incorporated into Buddhism, I’d like my pattern to have a symbolic meaning. There are 8 prominent symbols in Buddhism, called royal emblems. They all have different meanings, but I find one in particular, the conch shell, the prettiest. The conch shell represents wisdom and Buddha calling people to worship. I’d like to use this as the basis for my pattern, and use colors often found in Buddhism for the palette. The conch shell is naturally interesting looking, so translating it to a repeating pattern should be cool. I created each motif in illustrator, but my favorite one is the one called “Wisdom”.
