For this project I was assignes to create a 2D work that fits within a larger class-wide image sequence. As a class we created a narrative that describes a world made up of 16 different lands, (a land made by each student) that an imaginary traveler can journey through. We will developed the context for this world and then each student developed their own work within this mural structure. We began by brain-storming with lego pieces to form ideas of our isometric drawings, we also came up with a utopia and distopia. After we researched and incorporates iconography and other imagery from our investigation of avatars and various world cultures to create our unique land. On a piece of translucent 14×17 drawing vellum I was assigned to a specific section of the sequence within which I collaged my individual work with my neighboring world, by finding a way to connect while keeping the theme of my utopian imagined word.
My imagined world is a utopia based on the novel “Le Petite Prince”, by Antonie de Saint-Exupéry, I wanted to make the viewer get a sense of nostalgia and at the same time let the viewer connect with his or her inner child.
