For this assignment I developed a set of 10 designs for the theme of emojis that I choose during class which was “ALIENS”. This is a broad topic so I involved different aspects of what I think alien culture is. To begin this project i googled alien symbols and many articles and images came up that involved ancient “alien cave symbols”. So as you can see they look very primitive, little to no color is involved, and theyarent really easy to understand. You can tell they were hand carved and I wanted to incorperate this “style” into my emojis. I first hand drew the 10 emojis then took a picture of them and brought it into illustrator and traced over my image using the pen tool. I felt it was very important to try and incorperate the hand drawn element so I change the pencile shape from “Unifrom” to “Width Profile 1”. I also wanted my emojis to look somewhat antiquated so I tried to incorperate only nessecary details and didnt really design them too much indepth. so that viewers may be reminded of simple cave drawings.
