This is an image of a kettle, it is a symbol of my life back in Egypt, which makes me feel comfortable and at home, it’s nostalgic. Appadurai believes that some cities have lost tradition due to modernity, and it is very rare for the same city to have both simultaneously. I noticed that this opposes his theory, as drinking tea for me is traditional, and part of everyone’s daily routine. This is a modern kettle, that boils water within 2 minutes, which made me realize that this kettle is both traditional as well as modern, and really allows me to feel at home, and comfortable in my own space.
