For my bridge 3 project I had to create a cabinet of curiosities based off of joseph Cornell’s video of his cabinet. His way of presenting his objects within his cabinet really inspired me. At the beginning of this project I was not really sure of the way in which I should relate the objects to each of the references, after I have seen joseph Cornell box I have managed to grasp on the idea on how to create my own cabinet. For my thesis subject, I have decided to choose one that closely related to the advertisement chosen. The topic of my thesis related to celebrity endorsement and in specific Rhianna. I chose an advert that had Puma shoes and decided to re-create it with their celebrity face Rhianna. For my resources, I had to find two primary and four secondary resources that corresponded well with my thesis idea. The curiosity within me, led me to discover more about celebrity endorsement in advertisements, and objects chosen to be in this box were ones that each relate to one of the references. The objects chosen to be in this curiosity cabinet were; Fenty lip-gloss, PUMA fur slides, microphone, receipt from a PUMA purchase, one of my re-created ads with the slogan, and lastly frame with athlete pictures. I have followed my instincts and decided to input objects that relate to one another and all tie to Rhianna’s theme or collection. Relating my Cabinet of Curiosities to Joseph Cornell’s. One of my objects included a frame with different elements inside, just like josephs bird based cabinet. This one in specific really interested me with the different elements within the frame of his cabinet. To conclude, each of the objects as mentioned previously relate to the celebrity face mentioned in my thesis question which is Rhianna.
