Project: Collar and Cuff
-
-
In class we started the project with making a rugular collar
-
-
Different than others, I got my original idea from this, pencil shaving. The Circular dimension looks pretty.
-
-
Then I recorded my idea with 2 sketches
-
-
As I started making it, my collar reminds me of this collection from Savage Beauty by Alexander Mcqueen.

-
The inspiration of my cuff.
-
-
For material, I use muslin for my cuff, and a type of Thai rice paper for the collar. These two material look very raw and old. Then I thought about Alexander Mcqueen’s robot spray dress, so I spray painted my garment.
-
-
Figuring out how to make the structure of the collar, by using paper.
-
-
I started the cuff from a large piece of muslin, than I gathered the lower end into 8-inch to fit my wrest. Then I rolled down the other end from upper arm, sewed it into a design.
-
-
Spray paints. The first try was terrible. It looked too dirty than I expected. I imagined it would be like burned, and in a cold tone.
-
-
Later, I sprayed it with a second layer.
