GLOW-Appropriation Vs. Appreciation

Appreciation: Via pattern I wanted to appreciate the GLOW members by isolating a particular iconic image-hair. Normally isolated parts of (women’s) bodies are used for hyper-sexualization. I wanted to reverse that narrative by isolating a particular part of the body that refuses to be sexualized (hair) while still honoring the fashion/style/iconography used at that time.
Appropriation: Using the full body of a woman wrestler, I created the image of hyper-sexualization via the “male gaze”. The majority of GLOW spectators were men who took this form of entertainment as a gateway to  fetishizing women’s bodies. Using an image like this negates all athletic and feminist feats made by the GLOW cast members, and distills them into objects to be looked at for pure sexual pleasure.

Who would even have this tattoo? I googled “Staten Island Bro” and with photoshop, I made an unfortunate image. Sick tat, bruh!
