Audition Preparation

IMG_0647 R A college audition can be nerve racking and even scary but it doesn’t have to be.  Most fear is born out of the unknown.  So the more you know the less you have to fear.  The more prepared you are, the less nervous you will be and the closer to your ability you will perform under pressure.

Know your school’s audition requirements, begin to prepare early, memorize your music, and make your immediate goal preparing for the audition.  Short term goals lead to long term goals. Your college audition is the next step in a process and your focus should be on accomplishing that task successfully.

Learn as much as you can about the process, learn as much as you can about music, and prepare to have fun with at your audition.  If you have the opportunity, invest in the services of a qualified instructor familiar with the audition process and requirements to help prepare you as thoroughly as possible.  Although there are never any guarantees, if you practice regularly, study directed by the right professional can lead to higher scores and possibly pay off in scholarship consideration.

Being a good student is essential to having success in college so grades in other subjects are a consideration as well.  Start as early as you can and work consistently towards your goals and you will be successful.
