Sustainable Systems: What really happens to old clothes dropped in those in-store recycling bins

I suspected that the companies re-sell the clothes to other countries that they claim to help. Although, i only say that because I don’t trust big name brands because they use sweatshops, are cheaply made, mass produced, and giant conglomerates. Also, I have seen shops that are reselling clothes from the United States, marketed as CLOTHES FROM THE UNITED STATES** that look lika a good will, and yes, a lot of those clothes were really old, and not even that cute. Although, that is really shady, my friend in the Dominican Republic also buys a bulk bag of random clothes from the United States, and up cycles them- re purposing them into a new style. I was just talking about this with a friend the other day how it seems that there are more boxes around the city asking for more donated clothes- even in the New School (I also wonder what they do with them). To be honest, I think it is kind of an ingenious idea IF it was an INDIVIDUAL (not reselling them to other countries- that is deplorable) but reselling them here and maybe up cycling them here. The bottom line of the article, stop consuming.
