Integrative Studio 2 Bridge 2, Project Description and Research Outline

The Great Wall of China.

I made the Great Wall based on three perspectives: 1,the Structure.  2, the Significance of the War. 3, the myth.

I used the origin structure of the Great Wall as my whole part. It includes the beacon towers, stairs, and the wall.

And there are many  crosses that mean the tombstones. I want to use the tombstones to represent  the victims who worked and fought on the Great Wall in ancient China.

The third perspective is the destroyed part. It is about a Chinese myth which was happened on the Wall.  The Great Wall was built in Qin dynasty. At that time, there was a girl named Meng Jiangnu. Her husband was caught to build the Wall. After few years Meng Jiangnu came to the Wall to find her husband but she was told that her husband had died because of over-working. Then she was crying on the Wall, and her crying made the Wall destroyed.  So I made the destroyed part to imply the myth.

As the iconic figure of China, the Great Wall was awarded  one of the greatest wonders of the world. This will be the starting point of my research questionsHow did it became one of the greatest wonders of the world Extending this question, I can explore its construction, effect, value, historical significance, etc. I know a little about these aspects, so I can go deep into it based on my curiosity. And this research will give me a lot of data about its fact, which can support the controversial argument of my research paper Was it necessary to build the Great Wall? Or was it just a symbol that used to flaunt rulers’ glory and status? Most people said the Great Wall was build for wars, it is symbolic of such defensive concept. But in some ways it was documented that the Great Wall actually  didn’t play any role in wars. So based on these question, I can research its backgroundthe reasons for building the Great Wall. On the other hand, there is a myth which happened on the Great Wall, it named Meng Jiangnv’s Bitter Weeping. This is a typical example and the most widely known story of all the legends about the Great Wall. It reflected the grievances of building the Great Wall.
