For my photomontage, I used the eraser tool to take the white background off of my croquis. It took a very long time and I only used the eraser tool because I could not find the magic wand tool. My croquis are extremely tall and even though they are not proportionate to the other people in the photograph, they are very prominent (which is what I was going for).
Typeface
The word for my typeface was “flow” and when shopping for my material, I wanted to get something smooth and fluid. I decided to get Sriracha, and I used it to write my letters in cursive. I ended up naming my font “spice” because it ties in the hot sauce aspect and the playfulness of my letters.
Hang Tag and Branding
I named the brand for my garment “Toolbox Clothing.” I felt that this was suiting because similar to a toolbox, my garment provides a spot for all of the user’s items. Additionally, my garment was inspired by the work culture in Chinatown. The toolbox tag acts as a symbol for work culture in general. My hang tag includes a description of my brand/garment, and a map to show where I was inspired. I will be adding twine when it comes time to attach my hang tag to my garment.

The finishing touches that I made on my overalls were: some additional pockets, gold coins (which were purchased in Chinatown), gold brooches with tassels (also purchased in Chinatown) a detachable basket, and a detachable wallet.
The basket was inspired by the Chinese conical hat, which is worn by rice farmers. It acts as a symbol for the hard work of the Chinese people.
The wallet is on the lower leg of the user. This placement was intentional as it blends into the piece, and protects the user from pick pocketing or robbery.
For the photo shoot, my goal was to get pictures that show the details of my garment, and that showed my garment in action.

Sketching Croquis & Working With Watercolor
When we first began sketching croquis I found it very difficult and frustrating. Since the models only stayed in the same pose for two minutes, it was hard to complete a sketch in that time. However, as the morning went on, I improved. When we started practicing with watercolor, I really loved it, as it made the garment look smooth and natural.

Overalls Planning
As I began the planning of my overalls, I compiled a list of all of the professions that they would function for (see below). Additionally, I want to play with dimensions and proportions by adding undersized pockets, oversized pockets, and an overload of pockets. Although Chinatown can be slightly overwhelming and busy, it has many layers of culture and is beautiful in its own way. I think my pockets can help convey that theme.
The pockets function for workers at: fish markets, food markets, trinket shops, beauty salons, restaurants, delivery men, etc.
