To begin the project, we did a mini assignment that involved creating small paper models of 4 different types of collapsible structures. Pictured here are the fan, the accordion, the umbrella, and the armadillo.
Using my knowledge of those structures, I made 8 sketches for wearable sculptures that incorporated collapsible systems. Pictured here are my three favorite sketches.
Then, I created a small size bristol model and a full size chipboard model of my final idea. I used the experience I gained when making these models to help we during the construction of my final project.
