In this project, we were told to chose a subject that can be related to time so that we could further go deeper into research about this subject later in the semester. What I wanted to explore, was the influence of time in the fashion industry. The idea that many designers use influence from past fashion or even thinking in the future when coming up with their designs. I made a 1 min video showing pictures of various fashion shows that have used influence from different times in history such as John Galliano’s Egyptian Collection. Over top of the video I explained the importance of couture and the influence that past trends have on it more than they do on ready to wear collections. I expanded these idea with the way the quality that couture fashion involves and how in the past clothing, whether cheap or expensive was generally great quality. The idea that people back in time used to buy less and have longer lasting clothing.
