A martini glass on a wooden table. The white napkin sits, folded in the corner. A metal glass stands, only half of it is visible and is wrapped by ice to keep the drink cool. The transparent redness moves gracefully in the tall glass. Its uniqueness is revealed through the golden flakes floating in the red liquor while surrounding an orange peel resting in the middle of the glass. I saw it as a display of my own personal style. For most of my work, I love to use gold leaf and this drink generated a sense of familiarity with my own artistic choices. Its glamour shown only slightly drifting on the surface of the glass. This combination with the gold and the romantic red colour, gives the image a luxurious look and beauty and is the centre of the image’s ambiance. The materials and textures of this drink vary from the gold leaf to the drink itself. It is curious to see a substance such as gold in a beverage instead of being used in its original function. I have seen gold placed in many fine desserts before but it is always interesting to see because gold it not something that we associate often as a food substance therefore contributing more to the unusual concept of this drink.
