Object 6- Illuminated Imperfection

These were candles I found in Eglise Saint Germain des Près. These are the kind of candles that people pay a euro or two for and light to make a prayer. The most interesting thing however, was the faded wall and the paint peeling off of it giving a feeling of being in the presence of something that is ancient and fading though time. It was beautiful to see this and it caught my eye right away. It was the faded paint illuminated by the dim candlelight that made this picture so unique. This was a image showing the amount of time that religion and this church has been used for its same function.  The organic feel of the picture is very much present as well. Nothing overly technological or advanced in this space, the candle being used to light something like it once was. The colors were quite beautiful and I thought they formed a beautiful combination with the dim lighting and the off-white stone. A romantic feeling almost. Like fireflies in a dark space. I would have loved to see this shot in a film, see the candles flicker and what scene would have used it. I was interested in the concept of something old and something ancient, Japanese culture would call it Wabi Sabi.
