I chose to represent my childhood space with objects and smells that were the biggest part of my my everyday life. I chose to put these things in a packing box because of all the places I moved to as a child. I never felt as if there was a single space that represented my childhood so I chose to put a series of objects that stayed with me when I moved from place to place. I wanted the viewer to be able to have an idea of who the person is by looking at objects.
All of these objects are representations of things that were most precious to me and a representation of the places that I lived in. I used them to represent my childhood in a small space and arranged them in a messy way to show how a child would pack their moving box or at least how I used to. I would throw my things in one box without organising them. Some are similar because they are for me because they are a memory or someone.
I chose to represent the clothing I used to wear with these floral patterns because as a child I wore floral patterns almost all the time.
The three smells that I compacted into this box were of things that never changed as I moved. They are the only things that stayed exactly the same.
On the moving box I placed the names of the places I moved to. I wanted to make it look as if the box had no idea of where it was going or where it had been.
