Jang, Young-Girl. L’objet Duchampien. Paris: L’Harmattan, 2001.

Jang’s book offers a philosophical approach to understand Duchamps’ objects and artwork. The idea of materiality and value is argued throughout the book, with examples of his work, such as the Fountain. The author discusses the new meaning of objects, and what they become through Duchamps, and answers commonly asked questions about the artists, such as the reason of his fame, or why he is a pioneer in the art scene. When talking about Fountain, Jang explains that by calling a urinal “Fountain”, Duchamps changes the way we see the urinal, and make us observe the object as it is.
