Meatpacking District Observations

Day Vs. Night

Throughout the week, I visited the Meatpacking District at various times (early afternoon, mid afternoon/early evening, and late night). During the day, I observed and tracked many tourists and shoppers find their way around to many restaurants and shops. In the day, the district has a very calm and relaxed vibe with people seemingly not in a rush unlike most places in the city during the day.

The Meatpacking District is also known as a 24 hour district, truly a place that does not sleep so I decided to visit on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at random times around 12 – 4 AM. There were many people hanging out around Artichoke Basille’s Pizza (10th and 17th) but not that many people were actually inside eating pizza which I found interesting. Most people seemed to be intoxicated, happy, or angry which was a complete 180 from the aura of the district during the day.
