Time: Perceiving / Mapping Time

Throughout the process of this project, I chose to observe my time at my desk that I utilize to plan and efficiently design my schedule, with activities of proactivity which include making lists, reading and writing emails. This time of my day has become one of my most reflective moments, living in the city my mind is constantly stimulated by the consistent hustle and bustle that occur outside of my door. My piece is based on the layers of sight and noise that I observe as I sit with hums of the fluroscent light tube, the jumbled thoughts I attempt to organize on screen and on paper. With typography, I am able to create this chaotic texture and rhythm that is present in the city and my experience as a student. The first piece depicts a lesser chaotic image, which illustrates the the chronology of my time at my desk, the second piece shows the end of planning, but also the beginning of taking that action. The words in both pieces derive from physical emails I have read and sent throughout the week, written observations of my environment and elements of lists that I have written.
