Bridge 1 – Reflection PPJ

  1. How did you choose the images that you visualized?

I wanted to create a series that represented the process of my fascination with this particular camera through deep observation. From left to right the audience is able to read these steps in an informational and abstract sequence. This particular camera fascinates me because the experience and memory that is attached with the purchase of my object, there is an underlying curiosity and excitement because of the camera’s life on an abandoned shelf for thirty years.

  1. How did you choose the medium you selected for each piece?

I chose to use the medium that best reflected each aspect of the camera and how the images would translate with different lights and different types of paper.

  1. How did you choose how to present the work?

I wanted to create pieces that were relative in size and compact, because the object and what the object produces has this generation of images and I want to reflect on the photos that come of shooting film.

  1. How did you choose to connect/ or not connect the pieces to each other?

I saw the pieces as a step by step process of taking a photo and the personal memories attached with photos, the pieces depict a personal connection or a informative and concrete image.

  1. How did you feel (felt sense & emotional narrative) about presenting your writing – note keeping?

I love seeing other artists’ process and I take pride in my sketch book and the process, I think having the ability to see what thoughts and ideas are abandoned and explored is intriguing and I have found that reviewing old process can lead to extending old ideas and creating new works. Note keeping is the most interesting and challenging part of creating work.

  1. How did you feel (felt sense & emotional narrative) about showing your work?

I felt a little anxious, the specifications were very broad. I also felt proud and I wish I could have hung the pieces up in class so my classmates could have experienced the pieces physically.

  1. How did it feel to have the DAI happen with you present?

I was not present, but I probably would’ve been nervous.

  1. How did you choose your questions for the audience/ viewers?

I wanted to gain outside perspectives and understand how viewers could twist my intended messages from my pieces.

  1. What changes would you make to the work if you have to do another iteration?

I think I would probably minimize the number pieces to three and integrate more film photos and writing?

  1. If there was something that you could have shared with your viewers to bring additional context or understanding, what would it be?

I am the child in the last piece, my father took that photo, it is now missing from the family archives, so this piece is based on the importance of preservation and my childhood.
