The project from Processing that really drew me in is “One Hundred and Eight” by Nils Volker. In this installation piece, Volker attached plain white garbage bags to a wall and placed a fan behind it that he controlled with a microcontroller. The fans are used to blow up each garbage bag individually. The installation was interactive; the bags reacted to the movement of the viewer and deflated quickly as the viewer passed it. I am generally drawn to installation work, especially larger scale like this one. I enjoy the use of movement detection technology and the emotion this piece gives off. The bags were meant to shrink as if scared when a viewer approaches it which I think is an interesting concept.
