Final Paper Proposal

2nd choice

Jackie Kennedy in Pink Chanel Suit with J.F.K

November 22, 1963 – worn on the day of the assassination of J.F.K

Unknown American designer created a knock off Chanel suit with materials provided by Chanel in Paris

This Pink Chanel suit is an important part of American history as people vividly associate this iconic look to one of America’s tragic events with the assassination of J.F.K. It also speaks to Jackie Kennedy’s influence on style and fashion that still finds itself as inspiration for designers to this day. It is a an outfit that still recalls heavy emotions that America experienced on that day.

I am personally interested in researching more into this image as personally I find most of my inspiration from historical events well within my culture and would like to see how this Pink Chanel suit defined itself as a prominent artifact out of a tragic event.

1st choice

Time – Lee Yong Soon (Blue) alongside Sergeant Johnie Morgan

context 1950 – Korean War

They are both returning to Seattle after the War as Blue is one of the many war brides.

I am currently studying the issue of the history of oversexualization of Asian Women in the Western world and want to continue to see the different Asian Women experiences in all aspects of being in the Western World to see how they were forced to assimilate to be accepted as many other women like Lee Yong Soon had to give up parts of their culture and heritage once coming to America as a war bride. She and many other Asian Women had to adopt American names and wear the fashion of the American women at that time to be accepted.
