Inspiration:
LowLine – It is the world’s first underground park that built based on the abandoned Williamsburg trolley terminal that located lower east side at Manhattan. All the plants there will be grew by using the energy from a solar panel on the roof that transfer sun lights directly to the plants. Below are some pictures of the terminal and LowLine.
So the idea of LowLine really inspired me that we could redesign and reuse the abandoned space. We took too many place from the nature environment, it is the time to give back to them. It is not only good for people to improve their quality of lives, but the sense of sustainability will be also enhanced. Im trying to find a place in New York City that has not been used for a long time, and i found a train station under the Waldorf- Astoria Hotel. Below is the picture of the station.
I decided to transfer this place to a restaurant or bar, at the same time, i want to raise some water plant in there. Since it is located at a closed underground place, so the water plant will be easier to alive. I am also thinking to use all recycle materials to decorate the place so we provide the sustainable idea as well. So I am going to use photoshop to create an effect picture that include all the idea that i think might work, and introduce it in the final presentation.
