About me

Susan Lim

My work is about the present day. I work with with various art forms and a mixture of media such as performance, mixed media, sculpture, and fashion. In my work I portray the on-going social and political issues, discoveries, and changes me and the world goes through.

My performance pieces are a mixture of postmodernist theatre, jazz and modern dance. Influenced by Bertolt Brecht, Steven Berkoff, and Twyla Tharp. My performance pieces focus on the message behind the words and actions in the performance. The goal is to have my audience leave the performance thinking.

My fashion, mixed media and sculptural pieces portray the present of something or someone using color and texture in a cartoon-like and surreal manner. With my fashion pieces I like to put a twist in a style that is either over used or under used. In my mixed media and sculptural pieces, I use vibrant colors and humor to capture the essence of something in a satirical way.
