This peoject is by asking what if question to inspair new ideas for my studio Bridge1 project. My theme is identity. I darw a picture with ink and it is related to my topic is that I think this state more about the lost of the real us. By eliminate the girl’s reflection in the mirror and add in the different mask with different expression on it, shows that we are too use to put on the mask that we need to and the real self is starting to disappeared. Maybe under the mask is just another layer of mask. The signifiers in my work are mirror and mask. This may placed as subway advertisement aiming toward those people in school or in workspace who have a lot of pressure on social. It will tell them not to “choose mask” but to face you as what you are. The mirror should reflect you not the mask that you put on.
For the part2 bridge project I got three questions from my classmate：
What if it is not a picture but a illustration?
What if it is not human but other things?
What if not a reflection in the mirror?
I take into consider all three question when I recreated this picture.
What I learned from this project was to change some part of the picture that can make the meaning more clear. The medium was successful at supporting the content because the black and white photo is a great media to show the whole tone of the picture. What I learned about my content through this medium exploration was the different signifier of identity.
