In the sea, not all plastic lasts forever-sustainable system reflection week 6

According to a scientific team at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and MIT, there might be a second solution to the plastic pollution problem that we all facing right now. We have known from the past studies that normal plastics will pollute the environment and take thousands of years to degrade. However, the scientist discovered another way that can speed up this process to centuries or even decades. They notice plastic toys and park benches will be bleached after exposing them in the sun for long enough time. They studied this more and the study shows plastic can break down into basic chemical units of organic carbon which can be dissolved in seawater.
