DRAWING & IMAGING : Project 3 – WholeFoods Bag

For the first bag, I have chosen to introduce the theme: ‘WHOLEFAMILY’ by WholeFoods since Chinese new year is coming up.

Personally speaking, I‘ve always believed that having every member of the family together is a blessing; one of the most precious moments in the world, moments I could never forget because it doesn’t really happen that frequently. And the Chinese consider it a fortune have elders in the family, and even a greater blessing to be able to start the year with the whole family. However, the back counters the idea of ‘WHOLE FAMILY’ as there’s this man: alone, homeless and with an empty stomach. In this piece, I would like to evoke a sense of appreciation for the bag-carrier, that it is always a privilege to have your family around. If you feel like you’re not spending enough time with your family, go back home and visit them sometime soon. Make plans with them. And if you’re one of the privileged ones and constantly seeing your family, maybe be more patient with your elders, Pay attention to them during the time you spend with them. Love them in the time you have with the- family, is the most important.

For my second bag, my main theme revolves around ‘WHOLESOME’. This reflects the growing popularity and preference of organic produce. Yet I also want to counter this concept with the pressing issue of famine and malnutrition – to those suffering, clean water and unexpired carbs already a privilege. In the making of this piece, I want to evoke a sense of appreciation in the audience. For we have the ability to pick the most ‘organic’ of the bunch, there are others who don’t have much of an option to choose from.
