Self-Assessment

Throughout the course, I found myself more talkative and active in class. Both seminar and studio class have developed me so much, whether in personality or ability. I felt like some of the assessments in this course have a really strong connection which each other, which really helped me and giving me an idea of what the project means and what do I want for my project. For example, the first bridge of the course: “Memory mandala” and “I remember” really made me think about myself and starting to memorize and express my feeling through my work. The idea of making our own story into one piece and writing down our past on a paper, inspired me a lot. As we move further on the course, I started to notice that I’m changing. The way that we have been ask to cooperate with each other, gave me the lessons of how to really listening and noticing other people’s strength. The personality test that we did in the studio class turn me out as a result of “Driver”, which is the one who always take control and be charge of something. Working with other people wasn’t easy, but it helped me understand how to look after your partner and how to really work as a team, learning that communication is such an important thing to know. The last project “Arch-I-Text” is really my favorite, it’s the most challenging and satisfying project that I’ve done. This project is a prefect explanation of combining the artist with their artwork. Especially when it comes to the part that we have to build our own “architecture” to represent ourselves, that’s really unique and interesting. I learned that digital might not be the option for me, but on the other hand, with my out-going personality, I started to help other people, and at the same time, I gain more ideas and inspiration out from it.

Before I was introduced to the research project, I don’t really put a lot of attention on the reliability (quality) of my resources, which could matter a lot. Now, I started to qualify the resource and taking notes of it like where I got my information and how does that related to my research. Furthermore, I learned how to cooperate with the librarian and ask for help. If I can have more practicing for the next semester, I hope that I can learn more about exploring the data and sharing experience of the working progress with each other, so we can see different ways of finding data and information. Nowadays, people believe in what they what to believe, which makes the reliability of an article really important, so what we learned in seminar class this semester is going to be really helpful in further research.

As a result of my work this semester, I will be pursuing my passion in the following semester, staying critical and logical. I think I will keep exploring myself and annotating any reading that will be include for the next semester, I found that technique really helpful and easy to understand more about the article itself. As I mentioned before, this foundation year really gave me a lot of useful skill that I can use for my following career at Parsons. Knowing how to cooperate with people, interact with your class, ask if you have questions, and especially learn accepting people in who they are. Parsons have such variety of people, and we all act differently, and it is really important to know why people act like that, treat people with respect is part of your job. Any skill that I’ve learned this semester has benefit me anyway, so I’m looking forward to the next semester to learn more, but still not sure what I want to explore later, since I would love experience everything in here.

Lastly, it has been a great semester and a great ending for my 2016. I love it with all of my passion and courage, and I’m ready for the following challenge that’s coming.

Welcome to my world.
