I learned this technique of making flowers on Youtube, I found myself really interested in things that are structural, so I decided to challenge myself on handmade sewing flowers. Also, I think this technique is really useful for me to create my future design, because my ideal of design is to make something different than casual wears. I like things that are dramatic and unique, so I think its possible if I take this rose technique to the next steps in my design.
I was first really inspired by the Rei Kawakubo’s design, when I saw her piece at the show “Unpacked Fashion” in MET. I found that Red dress was strongly attractive and structural. So I searched it up with her design and found that 2015 Paris Spring Summer Collection was all about red and outstanding techniques. The roses gave the kind of feeling of heavy and draped. So I really think that the roses are one of the spot light that made this jacket feels more modern and fashion forward.
