[PUPD 2010] DESIGN STUDIO 1- See NY
(Project Book)
The See NY project is the second project of Design Studio 1. It requires students to go out and observe the characteristic of New York City and generate design based on the observation. The challenge of this project is to identify and solve specific problems through the observation process. There are total two parts of this project being divided into three sections. The first step of this project is to observe and record the observation in detail. The second step requires students to make two boards (one discovery collage board and the other process board). The third step is to design the product all based on the observation.
The product is a bench storage which resulted from observing how runners interact with their surrounding environment at West side of the city (Especially from Christopher street to pier 25). It functions as both a storage place for runners, bike locks for bicycle riders and a mini table for people who want to take a rest on the bench. The project book below indicates the complete design process and the result for the bench storage.
