A habitat is a functioning, living environment which hosts the growth at maturity of organisms. The most common distinction and identification of a habitat is between the different species of organisms. The human habitat will nowadays consist of various forms of structures, and terrains in which we carry out our daily tasks. An Elephant’s habitat will possibly consist of a large area of terrain for them to roam and find food, like those found in the plains of South Africa or the Jungles of Thailand. The distinction between a modern day habitat like a city is that food and water does not have to be found inside of the habitat for organisms to function and survive. As we can transport these necessities into the habitat if it is lacking them. Unlike the example of the Elephant’s habitat where if no food or water is found within their habitat they will die because they don’t have the systems in place to survive without the necessary resources.
