Cinematic Perspective

For this project, I chose to create an interior space. I originally planned on making a single floor one point perspective space but decided to challenge myself. I looked at some interior designs and was really inspired by two-story designs in which you could see both floors from the same view. I also really liked the checkered flooring on one particular inspiration photo I saw. Instead of creating an average staircase I thought of making it curve upwards. This was really challenging to sketch out due to the perspective. The top part of the stairs were especially difficult. After sketching my design idea in my sketchbook, I transferred it to 24″ x 36″ paper. I then took a photo of my sketch and uploaded it to Photoshop, where I used mainly the gradient tool to color and shade the design. I chose to omit the table from my sketches in my final piece and add a light fixture instead, to make the room more interesting. Another thing I changed while in the process of creating my final piece on Photoshop was to make the railing glass instead of it being an elaborate design. The color scheme and simple rectangular shapes were a recurring theme throughout my design, the stairs, flooring, and light fixture were all polygonal, adding a curved design would disrupt the theme.
