Micro-Structure

1 2For my micro-structure, I decided to create a building out of a candle. My approach was to create a building with several textures since the wax on the candle is very shiny and smooth, but when scratched is texturized and rougher. I decided to cut ridges down the sides to disrupt the perfect round shape of the candle. From the aerial view, my “building” has an interesting shape. I carved lines spiraling around the sides, which meet up with the vertical cuts to form what would be windows. The material I used was a lot more difficult to work with than I expected, I used an olfa knife to make the cuts and etches on my design, however, there is probably a better tool to use. My micro-structure is called, “Asterisk” as the top view of the building looks like a simplified asterisk.
