Life Story Through Visual Culture

Part 1: Brainstorming and Collection

The important dates/years of my life story are 1996,1997,2000,2003,2009,2011 and 2015. And these are the images of visual culture I have found for those dates.

2. Part 2: Creating a work of your life story using visual culture

Through out my life, I have always loved animation films, especially those from Studio Ghibli. That is why I drew Totoro, which is the symbol of the film studio, trying to portray myself. By looking up and searching, I found lots of visual culture of the time period from around the world and I was surprised by the fact that most of those I found were those that I already know about in the present or from my memory. However, I tried to limit them as I added those of my interest(s) and because I will fill my life with more visual culture that I will experience in the future, I left some space to show the limitless amount. The important message that is represented in the visual culture I found is that it can truly help one to identify or demonstrate one’s life time just by looking at the visual culture of the time, including my self as it appears in my work.
