Call me the new funk master flex

I am pretentious and ambivalent about myself and unbelievably naive and my favorite piece of writing is "When I Look at a Strawberry, I think of a Tongue"

I really liked your audio piece! I enjoyed how you can decipher each environment according to the sound you shared. There was a really nice variety of sounds and places. I liked how it would go from a really simple sound with no background noise to a really loud place with a lot of different noises. I especially liked the beginning! There was a quiet clicking noise that went perfectly into a loud banging noise. Those meshed together so well, it was a really nice transition.

The sharp transitions works really well with some of the clips, but I think an extra underlying track would have helped to tie a few of them together more smoothly. All of the bits of sound were really interesting.

Christina! Christina! Christina! The transitions are smooth, the recordings are crisp and it feels very familiar – all things I applaud. Listening to this track it feels like an average day in the life, which is very pleasing for the time it was installed in. Overall I really enjoyed the homeyness, feeling and tracks used in this piece.

Very interesting piece, I like the utilization of familiar sounds in an unfamiliar context. Listening to your piece gave me a new appreciation for everyday sounds, the grocery store, the subway, food, etc. However, I think it could have benefitted from more layering and manipulation, as the sequential sounds become predictable after a while. Overall a successful piece!

Your attention to detail is impeccable in this, Christina. The variety of sound and the delicate, auditory sensitivity to each and every texture is an absolute joy to listen to – if I had to compare, it was like exploring a little box of treasures, each trinket showing me a part of my life in audio that I never particularly minded or cared for before listening. If I had to say anything at all, it would be that this particular soundscape would be greatly supported by a little more layering – doing so would lend itself to some panning, and that would be an excellent use of all the textures you managed to gather for this assignment. All that to say, what you’ve done here is pretty adequate for the assignment. Props on this.
