Reflection on exhibit

I’m very glad how the outcome of Aditi, Shaskia, and I’s Margins Café turned out. I’m glad that we were able to use that corner, the café fits well within it. I also was surprised to see how much material we were able to create for it, the riso printed posters added a new element to it which I hadn’t previously planned. The video that Shaskia and Aditi made integrated well with the attitude we were going for along with making the café more interactive and engaging. The hang-up printed posters I hadn’t initially planned on hanging, along with the shower curtain holders which were funky and added to create an even more lab-like feel. I do think that I would have hung them up differently if the bar on the ceiling wasn’t in the middle of the room but closer to the back to make it feel more like an environment rather than just posters. I was able to play the cow video on the iPad on repeat with the 3D-printed cows, which added a physical element to this piece.  Although my video was pretty funny and random, the symbols of the school in blue, the pills and the cow conveyed my message.  I was mainly impressed with the overall exhibit and how all of the pieces worked together.  They were very well laid out and Talia’s work directly connected to my works right next to it. The pinhole work on the window that accumulated through the day added to this section of the room.  I used the 3D cow render in multiple places, in the video along within the café which I think helped to create cohesiveness between two very different pieces of art, yet tied into the theme of animal testing during the development of medical goods.
