Int Seminar 2: Interview

Name: Claire Yoo

Age: 19

Nationality: half Australian half Korean

Me: Hi, Claire.

Claire: Hi, Gabriella.

Me: May I ask you some questions about your favorite wearing or what you are wearing right now?

Claire: Sure, I’ll choose Uniqlo jeans cigarette pants which I am wearing right now.

Me: Ok, that’s great. So, can you first briefly explain about your garment?

Claire: This black pair pf jeans are what I wear everyday, whether I go to school or dress up and go out. People ask me if I have other pairs of jeans because they’ve seen me wearing only this pair of jeans (haha). I’ve worn this everyday for the past year that the color of the jeans has faded and now is grey.

Me: hahaha it seems very attractive. How do you feel the fabric on your skin?

Claire: The fabric construction is made out of denim, but it has a very light weight unlike other denim pants. Because the garment itself is not too thick and does not have any spandex mixed in, it also helps my legs look a lot more toned and less bulky than other jeans I own.

Me: Is your garment tight or loose?

Claire: It’s not too tight or too lose and fits just right. It’s so comfortable that it feels like a part of my body.

Me: Would you recommend your garment to other people?

Claire: I personally recommend this jean to everyone as it goes well with any top or outer wears and is easy to dress up or down.

Me: I feel like I should go buy it.

Claire: You really should.

Me: Since you are studying fashion at FIT, I believe you would know some of histories of garments. Do you know the history of your type of garment? If yes, what is it?

Claire: I think I do know quite a bit of history, although I’m not sure if I’m right. I believe denim was first worn by the working class due to its functionality and practicality. Also, relative to the price point the garment is offered at, the durability of the garment is considered to be worthy. It was also a reflection of rebellion after a famous Hollywood start wore it in his film. After this the demand for jeans shot up the sky.

Me: Oh, that’s interesting. This is the end of my interview. Thank you!

Claire: No problem!

Since we have known each other for almost five years, I felt little awkward but mostly comfortable for doing this interview. Also, it was great opportunity to hear about her garment because I never had to talk about her clothes before. I think she was able to answer questions in depth because she goes to FIT and studies fashion business management which means she feels pretty confident on this kind of topics. Overall, I think our interview was successfully done.
